Team Management

Chair: Amanda Ferraro

The purpose and responsibility of the Team Management Committee is an important function of USC. Our objective is to organize all travel meets, from the first step of finding out where the swim meet is being held, through to the swimmers' arrival back home again.

We arrange all modes of transportation, from airline tickets to van rentals; book the accommodations and plan all meals and snacks. We make up the health and consent forms and get them to parents/guardians before each travel meet. We determine the travel costs for each swimmer for each destination and give these to each swimmer with the consent forms.

Chaperones are always required for USC Team swim meets, and we would like to have parents take part in our out of town trips. There are usually two Chaperones who travel with the team and Coaches, but on our larger travel groups we may require more. A head Chaperone is appointed by the Coach/Meet Manager. The head Chaperone's duties require that liaison is maintained between the Coach/Meet Manager and the remaining Chaperones. The head Chaperone is also responsible for handling the cash float and financial matters as well as having a meeting prior to the actual event with the other Chaperones to discuss and assign duties. At the end of the swim meet, the head Chaperone must submit a report to the Meet Manager for invoicing purposes. (Form will be provided.)

A sign up sheet will be posted on the USC bulletin board several weeks prior to swim meets. Anyone can sign up, male or female, even if your swimmer is not competing.

Chaperones expenses are covered 100% by USC.

Your hotel room will likely double as a USC Team room.

A Chaperone Tips Manual is available upon request from the Meet Manager.

The responsibility of Chaperones is solely to the swimmers when they are not swimming. Chaperones have to be available to swimmers 24 hours a day, and must know where each swimmer is at all times.

The transportation back and forth from the hotel to pool will be done by you, the Chaperone, as well as the making of meals or the arranging of meals at a restaurant.

This is a very important job, and we would like all of you to think about giving us some of your time to be a Chaperone for us this year. You will find that we have a great bunch of kids on our team.

If you require any more information on this very rewarding experience, please don't hesitate to ask.
